Oxygen therapy can be an intimidating addition to your life, but it doesn't have to keep you at home. When traveling for work or for vacations it is important to have proper planning, you can still enjoy the independence and adventure of travel. Experts in home oxygen therapy help make travel easier for their COPD patients with the following checklist.

Four to six weeks before you travel
-
Make all arrangements as far in advance as possible, especially if you are booking air travel.
- When booking your ticket, let your travel agent or air, cruise, train, or bus line know that you will be traveling with oxygen. Make sure you know their oxygen policies and all associated costs. At a minimum, you must inform the airlines forty-eight hours in advance of your check-in time.

Let us explore a bit the relationship of this three. Family life, at least in the Philippines, mostly would require marriage. A good family plan includes this critical ceremony. This is the consummation of sleepless nights, long talks over the phone (or texts), emails, and what-have-you. But if you want to get off on a good... no, GREAT start, there's the honeymoon.

Honeymoon comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, so to speak. And starting off on the right foot requires that we wade through all the honeymoon packages being offered by different travel agencies, hotels and resorts, and even wedding planners.

What are the things to consider while planning that first magical week with your recently acquired life partner?

1. Know thyself. Two become one so it's really not you alone anymore who gets to decide (unless of course you want to pull a fast one and sweep your sweetie off his/her feet). What is it that characterizes you? What is it that you want? These are some questions you need to settle.

Don't be deceived by its intoxicated backpackers and drug-clad coffee shops; Amsterdam offers far more than some rowdy itinerants might suggest. Intrinsic charms and an enchanting culture pervade the Netherland's capital city; brimming with romantic canals, fabulous art galleries, and enchanting historical buildings, Amsterdam is truly a honeymooner's delight.

My husband Elliott and I had considered several European cities before finally settling on Amsterdam: London for premium museums and theatre, Italy for the pristine Mediterranean coastline, and Prague for the Jewish quarter and charming Old Town Square. But Amsterdam ultimately prevailed, as the small metropolis seemed the perfect destination for romance, culture, and some much-needed revelry.

Once we had recovered from the jet lag (little over a day), we commenced our trip with a charming 5-hour boat and bike tour. (Since we had honeymooned in spring, these special tours were still being offered). We spent the first few hours biking around town, exploring famous sites like Dam Square and the Anne Frank House (which we would later revisit). Bike riding was a pleasant surprise and, as our guide informed us, is apparently the quintessential Dutch experience. We would proceed to use bikes for the duration of the trip.

We then relocated to the tour's more relaxing latter half: the boat tour, which traversed the city through its network of beautiful 17th century canals. A highlight of our honeymoon, I found the boat tour captured the city's placid, romantic nature. We meandered along Amsterdam's calm waters, enjoying optimum views of the city's charming edifices and bridges. The tour ended in verdant Vondel Park where Elliott surprised me with decadent chocolate, a bottle of champagne, and several warm kisses.

We rented canal bikes, and pedaled through the waterways; visited Anne Frank's House as well as the inspiring Van Gough museum; and enjoyed the perfumed air of Amsterdam's vibrant Bloemenmarkt (flower market). We lent our evenings to the city's steamier side, roaming the Red Light District and even indulging in a coffee shop or two.

For five days and four nights, Elliot and I were engulfed by the city's undeniable charm. It would be unfortunate to discount such a magical city because of any word-of-mouth fabrication; romance certain abounds in this quaint yet bustling city. It really is a fabulous destination to celebrate your vows.

Glossary of bridal veils to help you decide what to wear in your hair.

Blusher- A shoulder lengh veil which is worn over the face and usually worn at formal and semi-formal weddings. They shouldn't be more than 34" long.

Elbow length- A veil which is down to the person's elbow when their arm is extended. It is usually worn with a short gown which has no train. fancy detailing at the brides waist.An elbow length veil best compliments a dress with a full skirt. The veil should end below a low back but above the start of the skirt.

Fingertip Length veil is worn with any bridal gown that is longer than tea length. It can be used with a formal or semi formal gown. For brides under 5'4" a fingertip length veil is not recommended.

Cathedral length veil is only worn with a cathedral length formal gown with a train.
The veil will hit the floor and extend at least six inches past the train. Long veils are now very much back in style. A cathedral length veil can create a more romantic look.

Two-tiered veils are best on nearly all people because they are fuller and will provide your face with framing on the sides. In a two-tiered veil, brides are nearly always sold on the beauty of the effect.

Don't choose a short veil that might cover lavish details on the back of a gown if you want to show them off. A longer veil will put emphasis on the details. The tulle is sheer and easier to see through when it is long.

A veil should be attached to the tiara with velcro or snaps so it may be removed during the reception. There is nothing worse than getting a hug from a relative and feeling your veil pulled right out of your hair. Also, removing the veil and leaving on the tiara will make it clear later in everyone's photographs just exactly who the bride is. Finally, you may want to dance and the veil will get in the way, but the tiara will not.

O.K. now what do you want to wear on your head ~ want a jeweled princess tiara or something else? It all depends on what you like, your bridal hairdo, your veil and of course your wedding dress. Choose the one that looks the best on you and you'll definitely be a beautiful bride!

Tiaras. A tiara is what most people envision when they think of a tiara. Something with many sparkling stones. Usually, tiaras are worn in very formal weddings. However, with so many styles that are available today, tiaras are an option to use with any hair style, dress or veil. More elaborate princess or crown tiaras are stunning without a veil. Hats. Bridal hats can add character to your wedding and dress. Sizes range from large, flower-adorned varieties to small, pillbox hats. Skullcaps are a different type of hat. They fit very close to the head and serve to secure the veil.

Headbands and V-Bands. The single headband is most common, but there are double and triple headbands as well. They can be decorated to match your shoes or bouquet, A headband works with all hair lengths, looks equally wonderful with an up do or flowing hair, and can serve as a veil attachment.

Rings and Wraps. There are several varieties of ring-shaped headpieces. Bun wraps are designed to wrap around a bun. Halos look nice sitting on top of short hair. Floral wreaths, which fit across the forehead, can complement an informal, outdoor wedding. Combs are versatile headpieces that come in a variety of styles and sizes, and can complement any wedding or hair style. Barrettes. Small combs and barrettes work well without a veil. These can be simple or flashy, and can be decorated with your choice of crystals, floral pieces, pearls, or rhinestones.

Other Hair Adornments.. Besides barrettes and combs, there are variety of other hair gems to choose from. Many stores sell bridal twists or pins made from pearls, beads, or crystals. Whichever headpiece you are considering, ask the advice of your family and bridesmaids. They will help you choose the perfect headpiece -- one that will look stunning on YOU!

Though your flowers don't need to be ordered until a few months before your wedding date, it might be a good idea to book your florist as soon as possible. Many florists are booked months in advance. Even if you're a flower enthusiast, you'll never find the time before your wedding to handle the floral arrangements yourself. Don't attempt to!!!

Do your homework!! Wedding magazines usually have pictures of Bridal Flowers so take your time to decide what you like or do not like.
Look around for bouquets you really admire even if it is just adding a ribbon or different flower. Make a list of the florists that create these arrangements. If possible get some recommendations from friends or other brides.

Schedule interviews with several florists. Chat in person, if possible. Make sure the florist has had some experience in creating the kind of bouquets and centerpieces you want. Bring photos of bouquets you like. Make a list that includes which flowers you love and which ones you dislike. Also, note any flower allergies that you and your groom, or even members of your wedding party, might have.

Be honest about what you can spend. Your florist will need a realistic figure to plan your bouquest. Generally 10 to 15 percent of the overall wedding budget goes for flowers.

The shape of the wedding bouquet will be a little bit different depending on your style and the flowers you choose. A flower like a lily tends to form a defined flow due to the look of the flower and roses are great to create a round evenly shaped bouquet – lots of different options so don't forget to ask your florist about it as it differs from flower to flower. Some flowers 'hang' a little bit more while flowers such as roses stand upright very strong.

Another question the florists might ask~ how long do you want the stems of the flowers of the wedding bouquet to be? They will also ask how you would like to have your bouquet bound, with ribbon, twine etc.. Your florist may offer a wedding band for your bouquet,

HINT One thing to remember on your wedding day is that when your flowers arrive, do not take them out of the water yourself (especially if you are wearing your wedding dress) ~ instead ask someone to help you ~ have a towel available to dry them off so they don't drop sap on your beautiful new wedding dress. That would be a disaster!!

How about drying your wedding bouquet and keeping it as one of the memories in a special place in your home? Some flowers are more suitable for this than others. Ask your florist how you should go about drying your flowers (If they are even suitable for that) as by the end of a long wedding day your flowers will start to droop, so you may need to take action before the end of the evening if you want your flowers to last.

The bride is typically not the only one who gets to carry a bouquet on her wedding day,~~ her Bridesmaid often carry them, too!
The bridesmaids bouquets can either be smaller bouquets of the same flower(s) as the bride's or maybe just one kind of flower is chosen for the bridesmaid's bouquet, it depends on the flowers and the contrast or similarity you want to create. Are you looking forward to a long, leisurely vacation this year? If you have a toddler to look after, you'll really feel that you've earned it! But traveling with a toddler - whether by road or by air - can feel like hard work in itself. How can you cope for hours at a time with a small bundle of energy who has nowhere to run about? How can you keep your toddler from distracting the driver or annoying other passengers?

Successful traveling with a toddler takes patience and skill, but most important is preparation. Although you'll probably be feeling excited about the upcoming break yourself, try not to let that excitement show. In the days leading up to your trip, keep everything as normal as possible. On the day itself, answer your child's questions about the trip calmly and straightforwardly. Avoid giving sugary treats, which will just result in excess energy. It's a good idea to feed a heavy meal before the journey begins, so that your toddler will be sleepy, but avoid tangy or spicy foods, which are more likely to cause travel sickness. If this does occur, ginger biscuits are a great way of relieving it without the worries associated with medication.

When traveling, have a blanket handy for your sleepy toddler to curl up in. A blanket can also be used for simple games involving hiding, and, if spread out when you play with toys, it can help to catch escaping items. You should always have toys at the ready when traveling with a toddler, but avoid items that can easily be thrown. Self-contained activity boards are ideal, giving children more control over what they want to do when, but bear in mind that they can be noisy. Toys that encourage learning activity, such as counting and memory games, are ideal as concentrating on them will tire your child out and encourage napping, the easiest way to travel.

Traveling with a toddler can also be complicated by the fact that young children can't adjust their food and toilet needs to fit in with an adult schedule. On-Board the Super Star Virgo luxury liner

We started our getaway with a cruise on the Superstar Virgo from Singapore to Port Klang. We spent 2 days 1 night on board. We departed Singapore at 10:30pm and reached Port Klang the following afternoon at 3pm.

Our cabin was on the 11th floor without a porthole. We were surprised by the welcome gifts awaiting us on the dressing table. The room was cozy and had comfortable beds that definitely allowed us to have a great night's rest. The cabin aisle is long which shows that its a long ship

The meals onboard were sumptuous. There was a choice of Western, Chinese and Mediterranean, each having a separate restaurant. We tried both the Chinese (for breakfast) tim sum style and Mediterranean (for dinner) buffet style. The breakfast was average but good enough to feed you. The dinner was better, evidenced with us going for a 2nd round to eat our fill. There are other restaurants onboard but you have to pay for them and they are not included in the tour package.

We toured the ship and used its facilities. Our first stop was the spa pool, hot bath and sauna. This was the first time I ever visited a hot bath or sauna. It was so hot, I had to open the door to let off some steam... Good thing no one was there!

At night when there is no live performance a movie is usually shown. We saw a great live performance, but stayed away from the movies as we had seen them previously.

There are 13 floors on the ship. When you take the lift, it gives you a breath taking view of the beautiful interior. There are 2 beautiful swimming pools, one at the front and another at the rear of the ship.

Last but not least we visited the casino. There were many tables for card games, roulette and others. There were many rows of slot machines too. One of the biggest casinos, on board a ship, I have seen thus far.

Heading to Genting Highlands

We arrived Port Klang as scheduled and got off the ship to take the bus ride to Genting Highlands. The bus journey lasted 3 hours. It was like an expressway as there were no traffic lights to stop us. Along the way we got to see the majestic twin Petronas Towers at Kuala Lumpur. After a brief toilet break we started to ascend the hills of Genting HighLands. The road is not as winding as before, as there are now 3 lanes going up and down. After an hour we reached the peak and proceeded to First World Hotel . It was already foggy and visibility was poor.

First World Plaza Indoor Theme Park

After dinner, we proceed to the First World Plaza Indoor Theme Park . We were amazed how a theme park could be within a building. As time was limited, we managed to ride only on the:

Genting Outdoor Theme Park

The next morning we visited the Genting Outdoor Theme Park. It rained a little in the morning, however, it stopped before lunch. We noticed that some rides had to be paid, as they were not included in the entrance fee. We took rides on the following which were included in the entrance fee:

Cyclone (Fast)
Dinosaurland (Slow)
Flying Dragon (Moderate fast - Fast)
Grand Prix Fun Kart (Moderate fast - Fast)

Out of the 13 rides, we had the most adrenalin rush from the Space Shot ride. A word of advise, only ride it with an empty stomach. We left at about 4pm to explore the hotels and casinos

Hotel exploration

We exit from the outdoor theme part main entrance. The shopping path we took connected us to all the hotels like what we have at City Link at City Hall in Singapore. First we visited the Resort Hotel. It looked like it was under some renovation. Next we walked to Genting hotel and then to Highlands hotel . Highlands hotel look the most grandeur.

Casino exploration

We visited the casinos at First World hotel and Genting hotel. We only tried our luck on the jackpot machines and not the card games. It was thrilling and exciting though we did not win anything,~ it's just great to see how long can your $10 can last!!. Ha!ha! By the way smoking is permitted, so the air of the casinos are filled with smoke and many people tend to light up in there. After dinner we headed back to the casino area and later walked back to our hotel to turn in.

Going home

We left Genting at 3pm. It was a 6 hour bus ride back to Singapore. We stopped at Chong Pang Johor Bahru for a light dinner. On the way I noticed that street lamps only appeared when there is a major junction and the rest of the way was mostly dark. Our coach returned by the second link through the Tuas immigration check point which was much faster. We returned home with fond memories of our trip and had the feeling of wanting to stay there longer and not return to our homeland.

Up to 60 million visitors travel to Spain every year to delight in the country’s 315 sunny days and its rich and diverse history and culture. As a result the Spanish government spend millions of Euros per year on the travel and transport infrastructure to service the country’s growing population and its ever growing numbers of visitors.
Therefore Spain has to be one of the easiest and most affordable of the world’s popular destinations in terms of its accessibility - particularly from the UK and Northern America. For example there are cheap flights available from all British airports to main and regional airports across Spain daily and direct flights from the main Spanish hubs to the US daily. As an alternative for British and European travellers there are fantastic countrywide train, coach and ferry links and great access for those who prefer to travel by car.
This article breaks down the main Spanish travel options by region.

Northern Spain – The easiest way to access this region is by plane from one of the main UK airports flying directly to Bilbao or from the US to Malaga with transfer to Bilbao. It’s possible to connect with Iberia flights for connections across the North and throughout Spain. Alsa and Eurolines have sophisticated coach networks and it’s possible to travel all the way across Europe to Bilbao or San Sebastian and then pick up local coaches or rail connections. You can also sail from the UK port of Plymouth to Santander with Brittany Ferries, or you could take the P & O route from Portsmouth to Bilbao.

Castile and La Rioja – The cheapest way to access these regions is possibly to fly to one of the main Spanish hubs – Barcelona, Bilbao or Madrid for example, and then either drive or get connecting flights. You can connect with Iberia for flights to Logrona in La Rioja or Valladolid in Castile. Castile, Rioja and Navarre are serviced by an excellent road network which makes getting around simple and again, Alsa coaches will connect you with major and minor destinations across the regions and the entire country.

Aragon, Navarre and the Pyrenees – As these regions are easily accessible by car or coach from Madrid it may be best to get a cheap flight to Madrid and then drive the E90 to the heart of the region. You could consider getting a connecting flight to Zaragoza in the middle of the region which is a good jumping off point for explorations in this stunning part of Spain. Alternatively access to this region can be made by rail or coach. Eurolines coaches will connect you with Pamplona or Zaragoza; Eurostar rail will take you from the UK to Paris and from Paris you can catch an overnight high speed rail link to Madrid…from Madrid the options are varied, from local rail and coach connections, car hire, and local flight connections with Iberia.

Costa Brava and Costa Dorada – As we move east to the beautiful Northern Catalonian coastal regions of the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada, so accessibility increases. Barcelona airport is the main airport for these regions and it welcomes cheap UK and US flights. You can then connect to Girona in the Costa Brava region or Reus in the Costa Dorada region. Barcelona itself has an underground train network for access throughout the city, and if you want to travel further afield the Spanish rail service RENFE has many mainline and local services servicing both regions. The main coastal road in Costa Brava is the A7, with the A2 taking you west away from Barcelona and the C32 taking you south from Barcelona into the Costa Dorada. Barcelona has a port with ferry services to Genoa, Rome, Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza.

Central Spain and Madrid – Central Spain’s main airport is Madrid and it welcomes direct flights from all the major UK and US airports and some of the smaller ones as well. As Madrid is such a major city you can imagine it acts as an important travel hub for the whole of Spain. Coach and rail networks and main auto routes all radiate from the city. Madrid has two main stations with trains departing for regional and international destinations, and the city has an underground metro system as well.

Costa del Azahar – The main travel hub of this region is Valencia with the city’s airport enjoying direct UK flights. To access the rest of the region you can take advantage of the RENFE services from Valencia or enjoy the city via the FGV trams and underground trains. If you want to travel from the coast to Madrid take the N430 and A3; to explore the coast take the A7. Again, Eurolines coaches operate connections to towns and cities in this region including Valencia, Sagunt and Vinaros. And last but not least, Valencia is a port city and has ferries running across the Mediterranean with destinations including Malta, Ibiza, Italy etc.

Costa Blanca – Most visitors for this region enter via Alicante airport. With the Costa Brava well serviced by roads and Alicante airport offering great car hire opportunities many people prefer to access the rest of the region by road, though RENFE, Eurolines and Alsa offer excellent rail and coach alternatives.

Costa Calida – Murcia is the main airport for this region, though Alicante airport is also accessible affording visitors and residents an extra opportunity and advantage. From Murcia there are a number of major train services including direct links to Madrid. In terms of roads, again the Costa Calida is a region with an excellent network of major roads and routes: the N340 runs from Alicante through Murcia to the Costa del Sol, the A7 hugs the coast and local, national and international coach lines service the area. In the port town of Cartagena a passenger terminal was built in 2003 which now serves as a destination for some of the major cruise liners on their way to and from destinations around France, Greece and the Black Sea Coast.

Costa de Almeria – You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to airports serving this region, you can fly to Alicante or Murcia and travel by road or rail into the region or you can fly direct to Almeria airport. The cheapest flights are often to Alicante. RENFE have mainline train services from Almeria to the city of Granada, Eurolines, Alsa and Enatcar all offer coach services across Costa de Almeria. The major routes in the region are the N340 which runs from Costa Calida through the town of Almeria and on south to the Costa del Sol, the A92 which connects with Granada and the A348 which connects Almeria with the Alpujarras. In terms of sea access, Transmediterranea have ferries from the port of Almeria to Northern Africa.

Costa del Sol and Andalucia – If you can’t get a flight to this region of Spain you must be doing something wrong – or maybe just hoping to travel during peak season! The main airport is Malaga and nearly every single airline you can think of flies from almost every single UK and US airport you can think of! If you can’t get a flight and you’re in the UK you might consider driving to the Costa del Sol! In which case your best bet would be to sail from Plymouth to Santander or from Portsmouth to Bilbao and then travel the 900 or so kilometres south. If you start off in Bilbao you’ll need the A68 and A1 to Burgos, or from Santander take the N623 to Burgos – then from Burgos travel via the N1 to Madrid. From Madrid head to Granada, from Granada head for Malaga…phew! Alternatively get a Euroline coach all the way from the UK to Estepona or Malaga or travel from Paris on the fast night train to Madrid and connect with the AVE fast train to Cordoba which in turn connects up with regional Costa del Sol services.

Costa de la Luz and Gibraltar – You can either fly to Gibraltar or Jerez in the region or make use of the many cheap flights to Spain that land in Malaga. There are ferry services between Tarifa and Algeciras in Spain and Tangiers in Morocco, bus and rail services across Europe and through Spain to the Costa de la Luz and strong road links with the E15 serving Gibraltar from the mainland.
Whatever your final destination you should be able to find cheap flights to some of Spain’s main airports and then use local and regional travel services to access your destination of choice; as I hope I’ve shown, the whole of Spain is incredibly easily accessible.

There are many important features of a vacation. It is not an option but a compulsory measure that has to be taken while traveling anywhere ~whether it is your own country or whether it is abroad.

To have an uninterrupted vacation you need to keep a count of the things you should be careful of. Especially children being sensitive ~you have to take extra care when it comes to children.

Some of the things you should be careful of is knowing what can cause allergic reactions, taking extra care if you have undergone any operation, making sure you carry your medicines as prescribed by your doctor.

Having a First Aid tool kit is a must have on a trip or a vacation. Some of the medications prescribed are: skin creams, pills, bandages, wound cleansing lotion, lots of Cotton, hot water bottle, carrying your own medicines that are prescribed by Doctor, if you are allergic to anything, you must know what to do!

Now, a First Aid tool kit is not the only precaution that you need to take, wherever you go, you have to be very watchful and protective of your family, avoid places that are vulnerable and can make you a victim. Keep your valuables intact on you, so that you are not a victim of robbery. Make sure that you do carry something to protect yourself from maniacs. And one of the recommendations will be eye spray. Eye spray will not harm the person completely but at least make him or her aware that you can defend yourself.

When traveling with children, they get excited when going on vacation so make sure that they do not put themselves in vulnerable situations where it would be hard for them to come out of.

Avoid legal difficulties; you should follow the law no matter what. There are families who have gone on vacations and have broken the law of where ever they have been and had to pay a great deal for it. So make sure you follow the legalities of where ever you are.

So, we've put together these useful tips so that a beginner camper can come up the learning curve a little faster. Maybe this information will help you to avoid some painful experiences, and better enjoy your first few camping trips to the great outdoors.

Make, Use, and Maintain a Camping Checklist
By making and using a camping checklist you've at least given some thought to your trip and done a little bit of upfront planning. By using the list you will be much less apt to forget something critical for your trip. Take your camping checklist along with you and add to it as you think of things that you wished you had brought. This way your list gets better with each trip, and it makes it that much easier to plan the next one.

Be Familiar With Your Camping Gear
If you have bought a new tent, lantern, cook stove, or some other gear its a good idea to try these out prior to your camping trip. There is nothing worse than trying to set up a new tent for the first time when its starting to get dark. This is also true for trailers or tent trailers. Become familiar with their set up prior to your trip, and get some experience backing them up, so that you don't have a tough time when you get to the campground.

Set Up Camp Before Dark
Arrive at your campsite early enough the first day so that you have plenty of daylight to get your tent and other equipment set up. This will get you off to a good start so that you can relax and enjoy the outdoors. Be aware that it gets dark much earlier when you are deep in the forest.

Plan Your Meals Before the Trip
Plan your meals before you leave on the trip. This way you will know what food to buy, and what you'll need in order to prepare it. Try to avoid getting stuck stopping at a convenience store, far from the city, where items are limited and often very expensive.

Bring the Right Clothing
When packing your clothes make sure that you have enough clothing in case one of you falls into the lake and gets all wet, or something else unexpected happens. Be sure and bring a swimsuit and towels if swimming is in your plans. Make sure to have some sweatshirts, light coats, and rain gear in case it gets cold and wet. Pack enough, but don't overdo it. Remember, you're space limited on what will fit in your car, and to some extent you are roughing it, so you really don't need as much stuff as normal.

Is Your Tent Big Enough?
There is nothing worse than having your family all packed into your tent like a can of sardines. Even though you are roughing it, you can still enjoy a little bit of comfort. If your tent is large enough, and you even splurge for some air mattresses, you can be sleeping nice and comfortable. We have a 9 ft x 15 ft dome tent that fits our family of four very comfortably. What I like best about having a bigger tent is that it gives us room to walk around the beds, and still have space to stack clothes or luggage. Even though this is a pretty large tent it folds down to a small size and hardly takes up any space, so unless you are backpacking, I would recommend going with a larger tent just to be on the safe side.

Make Your First Trip Close to Home
Visit a campsite pretty close to home (within 1-2 hours) for your first trip. That way if anything too terribly wrong happens, you can just drive home. Its always good to get some recommendations on places to go from some of your friends that are experienced campers. They will probably know some good places to go for your first camping trip.

Be Sure and Take Flashlights
Make sure and take flashlights and check their batteries prior to the trip to make sure that they are good and strong. Flashlights will be helpful if you are changing in a dark tent or if you have to get up in the middle of the night and go to the bathroom. We don't want you stumbling around the woods in the dark, do we? Lanterns are also very handy, especially if you want to light up your campsite and play some games around the picnic table. These now come with small screw-on propane tanks that are inexpensive and very easy to use.

Check on Fire Restrictions or Burn Bans
Check ahead of time and make sure that there are not any fire restrictions or burn bans at your campground. If you are looking forward to a good old campfire (and what camper is not?) than you could be greatly disappointed if a burn ban is in effect. However, if a campfire is a go, then make sure that you bring some firewood, and some kindling or newspaper to get your fire going, along with some type of lighter. Some parks have firewood available for sale, but not all do, and most parks will not allow you to pick up twigs and branches off the ground to burn.

Check Weather Conditions Prior to Your Trip
If severe weather is predicted for your camping area, and you can schedule your trip another time, then do it. There is nothing worse than being confined to your tent or slopping around in the mud for a few days.

Obey All Park Rules
Remember to obey all park rules and be courteous to other campers. Sound carries much further in the forest, so keep your voice down, especially at night. At the end of your stay, leave your campsite clean and ready for the next camper.

Make Note of Your Favorite Campsites
Once you have been to a campground that you like and scouted around some, make note of the campsites that you like the best. This way you will remember them for future trips, and if you can reserve a particular site, you will know which ones you are most interested in.

Family Vacations to the Black Hills

Nestled between Rapid City and the western border of South Dakota, the Black Hills are an island of beautiful mountains and trees that rise up among prairies and rolling hills. This area first came to life around the 1870´s when early-day prospectors discovered gold while panning in nearby streams.

The Black Hills offers something for literally everyone. There are probably well over one hundred attractions in the vicinity of the Black Hills. Choose from hiking, fishing, Click here, horseback riding, mine tours, panning for gold, rock hunting, exploring caves, scenic drives, beautiful parks, national monuments, and much more.

If the Old West interests you, be sure and visit Deadwood to experience some authentic Old West history. Its here that both Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane lived and died. Today, the whole town is a National Historic District. Later on, travel a little bit south and board the 1880 train in Hill City and take a two hour round trip journey back in time.

No trip to the Black Hills is complete without experiencing a chuckwagon supper and show. There are several places to choose from. We´ve been to the Circle B Ranch Chuckwagon Supper and Music Show, and had a wonderful time. The food was good and so was the entertainment. Plus, there were pony rides, gold panning, and other fun for the entire family.

Of course, the top attraction in the Black Hills is visiting Mount Rushmore. This stunning monument is a "must see" for every family. Carved out of 5725 foot Mount Rushmore are images of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. This magnificent work of art took many years to finish and was completed in 1941. Be sure and visit Mount Rushmore, and while you are there stop by the sculptor´s studio to see some of the models and tools that were used during the carving process.
